Miss England Milla Magee Quit Miss World Pageant in India
Milaa Magee Miss England’s claim that she was “farmed out for entertainment” has been denied by the Miss World Organisation.
Miss England Milla Magee quit the competition less than a week before the Miss World 2025 final, which was held in Hyderabad, southern India. She claimed that the participants were forced to “sit like performing monkeys.”
According to Magee, 24, of Newquay, Cornwall, she couldn’t “morally” continue since the pageant was “outdated” and “stuck in the past,” she told The Sun.
“Personal reasons” were given when she first left the contest on May 16. Magee went on to say, however, that the participants had been brought in to “entertain” male, middle-aged investors.
“There were two girls at each table of six guests. We were expected to sit with them for the full evening and entertain them as a thank you,” she told the tabloid.
“I found that unbelievable and remember thinking, ‘This is so wrong’. I didn’t come here to be farmed out for people’s entertainment. Miss World is supposed to have the same values, but it’s outdated and stuck in the past. They made me feel like a prostitute.”
Magee also said the officials were “disrespectful” to the participants and told them off for being “boring.” “It was a small incident, but it showed what they really thought of us and how little respect we were being treated with,” she said.
In the past, Magee has pushed the Miss World organization to do away with the swimsuit competition and instead require the competitors to practice life-saving techniques like mouth-to-mouth resuscitation or chest compression.
CEO Julia Morley Reply
Julia Morley, the CEO of the Miss World Organisation, called Magee’s allegations “false and defamatory.”
“Earlier this month, Milla Magee requested to leave the competition due to a reported family emergency relating to her mother’s health. As a mother and grandmother herself, Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of Miss World, responded to Milla’s situation with sympathy and immediately arranged her return to England, placing the well-being of the contestant and her family first,” the report read.
“Unfortunately, we have learned that several UK media sites have published inaccurate and disparaging remarks about Milla Magee’s experience in India that she allegedly made. These allegations are completely unfounded and at odds with the facts of her stay with us. Milla shows her happiness, appreciation, and respect for the opportunity in uncensored footage of her stay in India that the Miss World Organization is publishing in response. These recordings clearly expose the most recent lies and reveal her real remarks and feelings.
Senior official Jayesh Ranjan of Telangana state Reply
Senior official Jayesh Ranjan of Telangana state, whose capital is Hyderabad, informed Indian media that Magee’s claims were “fabricated and highly exaggerated” after an internal inquiry.
The Hindu quoted him as saying, “We reviewed the CCTV footage from that night,” referring to the event in which Magee said that participants were instructed to entertain investors.
It shows clearly that Milla Magee was sitting with four ladies and one guy. The gentleman was a senior IAS official, and his visitors involved his wife and daughter-in-law. He is renowned for his expertise and flawless reputation. It is absurd and unthinkable to imply that he made any offensive approaches, particularly since his family was around.
More Say About Miss England
Since it is the only one of the three formal social events on the Miss World 2025 pageant’s official schedule, the event in issue appears to be a cultural evening at the Chowmahalla Palace on May 13.
Magee was seated at the table with Miss Wales, who made no such complaint, according to a report in The News Minute that mentioned an unidentified senior government source involved in the inquiry.
Speaking with a number of other contestants, Ranjan said that their experiences were “completely contrary to what Miss England has alleged.”
“The overwhelming volume of selfie needs was the only small criticism we heard from some contestants, which they felt was excessive but not sinister,” Ranjan said.
After Miss England Milla Magee Departure
After Magee’s departure, Charlotte Grant, the first runner-up for Miss England, arrived in India on Wednesday to compete for her nation in the final, which is set for May 31.
Miss England’s first runner-up has since assumed the role of the nation’s representative for the remaining Miss World 2025 event.
